Owlboy: IGF finalist
6.1.2010 By Simon

That's right people! Owboy has just been nominated for Exellence in Visual Art!
This caught all of us by complete surprise. When we handed in the demo for evaluation in November, the project had been struggling for a while, so we weren't feeling all that optimistic about our chances. With the number of entries being the highest ever at IGF, it was a serious longshot.
Hearing the news the other day was like lightning from a clear sky. Just being nominated is a gigantic step forward and since it looks like our programmer issues are slowly being resolved, this is turning into an insanely fantastic start to the new year. I'd like to thank everyone that's stuck around with us so far. Hopefully, this will mean great things in the future.
Ladies and Gentlemen. We're going to GDC!

Also sounds like the year indeed is starting out good for all of you, hope it continues!
We are actually doing our first Videogame and hope to create a videogame industry in our country : )
I would love if u give us some advice about the whole process of making a videogame...not top secret things n that stuff....just like.....FIRST WE DO THIS and then we proceed to do that, etc.
We will really appreciate it : ) thanks
One of this days IŽll post here a link with our first game for u to play. Cheers ! and congratulations for Owl Boy. its really a piece of art
I saw it in Adrian's journal and that is really a good motivator for everyone isn't it? <3

The diversity of visual styles in the "Visual Arts" section is quite high, so it's not a simple question of quality. I think it's hard to predict who will win because it's probably a matter of taste. A nominee is great, even without a win... @"the one who made owlboy" ;)
Btw, I hope you can run camtasia sometime in the background while working on sprites/backgrounds. Still waiting for the promised "how I work" :)
