GDC day one
10.3.2010 By Simon

So the first day of GDC is upon us. Blogs everywhere are going spaztic and updating like crazy while people camp out at lectures. Us though, we spent most of the morning preparing for the next couple of days (in fact, the first GDC post took most of the morning). By the time we got to the convention center, we had to fetch our passes. Naturally, there had to be some kind of problem with the registration, so when we finally had that fixed, we decided to explore a bit instead of attending the sessions.
More specifically, I used my grand powers of all-access to get into the expo area during contruction.

I made my way to the IGF stand. Sadly, Owlboy's sign wasn't up yet, but I have this secret plan to check tomorrow. Don't tell anyone though.

The Nintendo stand, unfinished. Spies overlooking the production. I always knew there was some kind of coverup operation going on during these things!

Setting up the lights. Because, you know, you need to see things.

The playstation booth, unfinished. You can't see it, but behind those boxes, there's a giant screen. Keep this in mind for when I take more later. That is, if I'm allowed.

Seeing some nordic stands in a place right this is kind of interesting in a sense. Well, to me at least. And that's what counts.

After sneaking around, we decided to hit the town. Jo somehow decided he needed a new hat. So, he got one. He had some change left, so we decided we would give people the illusion that we're rich.

Climbing up the talles buildings we could find, we confirmed that San Francisco does indeed have houses. This picture is documentation of this fact.

Jo contemplating if they have a sky too. We're still working on this one, but I assume they do.

I realised that I was late for a private meeting with other indie developers so we ran over to union square to use the Wi-Fi connection to find out where it was. We did. It was far. We walked. After making my way there I infiltrated their ranks and captured this image of their secret society. Now you know!

Indie developers are some damn snappy dressers. In the alligator sense. Because alligators are snappy. When you freeze them down and break them apart. I don't know where I'm going with this. It was a good night though.
Things are going great so far though. Going to be interesting to see how this develops throught the week. Until next time!

(You made me do it, I swear)
