On top of the morning to everyone! I'm the new programmer for Owlboy, and my name is Jo.

I've started learning the basics of how to continue upon the current engine, and development for Owlboy has continued, after the previous programmer Blake has given me a thorough rundown of how to manage the engine.

Owlboy: IGF finalist

6.1.2010 By Simon

HELL YEAH!

Dance!

That's right people! Owboy has just been nominated for Exellence in Visual Art!

This caught all of us by complete surprise. When we handed in the demo for evaluation in November, the project had been struggling for a while, so we weren't feeling all that optimistic about our chances. With the number of entries being the highest ever at IGF, it was a serious longshot.

Hearing the news the other day was like lightning from a clear sky. Just being nominated is a gigantic step forward and since it looks like our programmer issues are slowly being resolved, this is turning into an insanely fantastic start to the new year. I'd like to thank everyone that's stuck around with us so far. Hopefully, this will mean great things in the future.

Ladies and Gentlemen. We're going to GDC!

IGF and a few other things

4.12.2009 By Simon

Hello everyone.

There's been a lot of silence on this site for a while now, and believe me, I've wanted to update with something for the longest time. It looks like more people have noticed the lack of updates than I realised, because I was just asked to comment on it about a week ago. The resulting e-mail exchange ended up on Destructoid, oddly almost a year since our last one on the site.

If you wish to read the post itself, you can do so here: Destructoid article

Before I say anything else, I want to mention that the game has been submitted for the Independent Game Festival Competition in San Francisco. We shipped off the demo last month, so hopefully that goes along well. However, when it comes to why it's taken so long to get this up on the site, that demands a bit more explanation...

Hit the jump for the rest.

Owlboy at the Raptus Convention

Owlboy at Raptus

Hello again everyone! This may come as a surprise, but we recently showed off an Owlboy demo at the Raptus Comic Convention. I would have given everyone a fair warning in advance if I could, but nothing was confirmed until the day before things was to be set up, so I apologise to those that might have wished to drop by.

Time was really not on my side when I set this up, so it was a fairly bare bones presentation, but did give me the opportunity to study how people play and possibly to spread the word a little. So for those of you that missed our two day demo, I've uploaded some pictures to compensate.
