KEEP IT UP!
Is it March already?! Then it's time to for an update on all things D-Pad Studio!

To put it mildly, we've been busy! We've been running a marathon since last update, but those efforts are starting to bare fruit! In this issue, we'll be sharing some updates on Vikings On Trampolines, where we might be appearing in the near future AND a little something we've been keeping secret for a while!

Actually, that may be a good place to start!
PHYSICAL EDITION INBOUND!

We've teamed up with Super Rare Games to bring Savant - Ascent REMIX to the Nintendo Switch™ in physical format!

It features Super Rare's trademark trading-cards and sticker, the game itself (of course!) and a fully illustrated manual, packed with tips, tricks and a bunch of info on the various parts of the game!

The game is available now (starting March 26th!)

DEV UPDATE!
We're adding all manner of strangeness to our Viking-themed adventure brawler. Here's where we're at!
ADVENTURE MODE

We're fully focused on the game's co-op stages - an essential part of the Adventure Mode! This mode can be played solo or up to 4 players - it's chaotic, and so FUN!

It's been a thrill trying to figure out how to turn this VS brawler into a true co-op adventure. We wrote about a few of the bosses in the previous issue - Now let's look at some stages we've been cooking up!

The vikings find themselves in the middle of a festival, overrun by balloons (Yes - in this game, the balloons are out to pop YOU!). The festival marks the great Voyage of the Windmills, a journey that takes them across the hilly landscape! Just don't look down.

If cruises are your kind of thing, take a peek at this lazy boat ride between continents. Just don't expect the wildlife to respect your privacy!

These new stages are all themed after their specific environment, including everything that lives there. Speaking of which!
NEW ENEMIES!

Let's have a closer look at how we go about designing these... creatures? They all share a simple common trait - they're all balloons!

Why are these balloon animals coming to life? And WHY do they loathe the vikings?!
That'll remain a mystery for now.

CHAPFISH
A basic balloon animal riddled with spikes (ironically). It's natural state is somewhat half-inflated. It's name comes from it's constantly chapped lips.

In-game, these enemies will flop lazily onto your ship, blocking your trampolines due to their spiky complexion.

Holding their breath, they can inflate to gently soar through the breeze (and stab any vikings in their way...)

We usually sketch a rough placeholder, so we can quickly test the most promising concepts, a technique we often refer to as 'blackboxing'.

Finally, when everything seems to work as intended, our pixel-artist swoops in and finalizes their... UNIQUE expressions. Wrinkles and all!

We've FINALLY completed the game's menus, plus an essential addition:

DAY OF THE DEVS
If you were in San Francisco on March 8-13th, you might've caught a certain game on display! Attendees got the chance to check out the very latest version of Vikings On Trampolines!
Free treats for all!

This year we had a dual-booth setup! The first day we had our demo featured at Day of the Devs, on the 11-13th March, we were at the GDC show floor!

We showcased a special version that merges the Versus and Adventure modes, allowing players duke it out against random bosses between fights!

In the final game, the two modes will be seperated. This build is designed to help ease players into the action at show-floor events.
